Great Vet
Pros: convenient, fair prices, great vets
"Switched from companion pet hospital. This place is MUCH better. Companion was overpriced, hadent heard of the latest medical treatments, nickel and dimed us, and I even saw the Dr. get into a fight with a patient. This place is the complete opposite. Nearly half the price, better service, more convenient hours."

NVH is the best veterinary facility in the area
Pros: Great seasoned vets and wonderful new graduates from vet school too!
"My husband & I have had some major health issues with some of our animals this year and we have yet to find fault with the care they have received at NVH. Our elderly bunny has gone in for gastro troubles & Dr. Flanagan took such good care of her & us. Where else do you have the VET personally call you TWICE in two weeks as follow ups to see how your pet is doing?? And, she doesn't rush you off the line when she calls either! I can't even get that from some places I go to! Our older dog had a tumor removed and Dr. Friedman took the time to discuss things at length prior to the surgery to ease our fears & concerns. The day of the procedure, the staff called me as soon as my dog was in recovery to give me a progress report. I can call there day or night and talk to anyone on staff with questions, concerns or need of what we feel is an "emergency" appointment and have yet to be treated with anything less than warmth & compassion. Kristin has calmed this nervous "pet mommy" on many a visit or with a phone call if she knows we are waiting on results. The boarding facility is fantastic, with many "private rooms" for the pets. I can't say enough good about the care my pet family receives. I look forward to many more years with this facility."

The worst vet I ever went to
"Sorry to be so rude, but this is definitely the worst vet I ever went to. And I had been to many along the years. My puppy has walking problems but since I moved, I had to find a new vet to treat them. The vet took him "to check him" (I've never seen a vet that take my puppy away for examining him, instead of doing it at my presence) and then came back to say that she couldn't see any problem. This is amazing, since he falls every few steps. Are you blind? However, they did give me an estimate of $300 for checking what he has. I payed for the visit and left. I wish I would have been more rude and able to tell them in their face that they are layers and unprofessional. A complete waste of money, and more important: they are risking your pet's life. "

Very pleased with Staff & Care of Service
"DR. Ellen is the best! The Staff comes in close 2nd. They have taken care of all of my animals since I moved to the area in 2004. Their care, patience, and expertise is outstanding. Can't beat their hours of operation. Yes, they are a little pricey, but I love my animals and am willing to pay the price for quality care."

All about money
"Use to take all three of my dogs there up until 3 years ago. Twice I was treated rudley, no compassion-office staff had been changed and new doctors brought in. Over priced. I had spent thousands of dollars there. I switched to Dr Factor which is wonderful. Hes the best and calls you personally to see how sick canine children are doing."

Excellent Hospital
Pros: Staff, hours and wonderful care
Cons: A little far from my home
"I have been a client at Newburgh Vet for the past three years. I will admit that my dog is my baby (I have no kids) and I am a little over the top when it comes to her care. I have always felt that her well being is their top priority and the prices they charge are very fair. I am now even brave enough to leave her at their pet resort (which is a beautiful victorian next to the hospital) for day care and a bath from time to time. I encourage all to go there."

best of the area
"I've seen 4 different Vets in the past 10years w/all of my pets, and this one by far is the best. If you shop around prices you'll see they are comparable to some other good vets, but where they have those others beat is that the Doctor's themselves call you back when you have questions. None of the other Vets i've used have ever bothered to call me back personally when I've had questions about my pets health. "

this hospital is the best
Pros: clean, professional, caring
Cons: can't think of any
"i have taken my three cats and one dog to another big hospital in newburgh for years. lately i got a parrot (never had one before) and was looking for an avian vet. my current hospital, even though it's multi-vet, doesn't see birds much. so my friend recommended newburgh vet to me. they were great! the hospital has really convenient hours (nights and all day saturday, sundays, too), and the people working there were obviously big pet lovers. everyone was nice to me, the place was clean and appointments ran on time. the vet was professional and took really good care of my parrot (who wasn't scared at all). the bill was reasonable, and they have a lot of very good diagnostic tools (ultrasound, etc). i already asked for my other pets records to be sent there. this is the right place for me. if you love your animals and appreciate good care, this is for you, too."

good care for my pets
Pros: lots of good, modern ideas, sunday and night appointments at no extra charge!
Cons: none yet
"this place is very good. i have taken my pets other hospitals, but haven't ever received the care and attention we got here. they have smart vets that you can tell love animals, and their prices are fair. i wish my own doctor was this good..."

LOVE MY VET
Pros: Quality Service
Cons: Vet Turnover
"I've never had a problem with any of the vets on staff. Dr. Ellen & Dr. Vic have taken wonderful care of my cats, dogs, bunnies and birds over the years. They take my calls right away and respond to any questions I might have. Last year my youngest cat had three surgeries to overcome terrible urinary & bladder issues and he was given the type of care I believe they give their own animals.
Animal care is expensive, especially when it it of a high quality. Their on-line services are a really nice extra feature for managing your animal's care. The only thing I don't like is that they have lost some young, wonderful vets to either other establishments or going out on their own perhaps."

Not feeling the love
"Left this vet after 15 years. It became all about the money, not the love of animals. Brought my dog in after having seisure like syptoms. Was told about water therapy for older dogs with athristis. Very overpriced. I switched to a new vet. I would encourage others to do the same. "

We've been going there for years.
Pros: Staff quite friendly. Can always get an appointment for that day if it's an emergency,
"Always have had 1st class service from them which is important as two of our dogs had/have chronic illnesses. When our dog got attacked by a pitbull, they got us in -*immediately*- to be seen. Staff is friendly and almost a member of the family. "

Ms.
Pros: None
Cons: Charges for every little thing they do for the dog...change a bandage, pay for it.
"Brought in a new puppy because he was acting lazy and not eating...vet examined him and I was told he had parvo and would not last the night. I stayed up all night, took off work and expected him to die. Well he is now a 7 months old, healthy puppy...far from the misdiagnosis the vet had told us. Went back to finish his shots, but switched to another vet. "

Extremely dissapointed!!!!
"Was quoted a price over the phone and drove 45 minutes to the place to be handed a bill for $100.00 more than the quoted price. When I asked why the girl on the phone told me the cheaper price, I was told that she was new and did not know the prices. Not very good!!!!!!!!!"
