I'll try it again
Pros: Atmosphere, menu, location.
Cons: Parking lot and unpolished staff.
"I have a background in fine dining, including seven years as captain at a highly respected restaurant, so I tend to be a harsh critic that finds faults others may miss. We celebrated my parent's anniversary here, which fell on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy and clearly understaffed. The service was acceptable taking that into consideration....I am assuming someone did not show up for work. The hostess was friendly, but clearly harried and trying to do more than her job should entail. Our waiter was also friendly, but lacking in ability and professionalism. There were numerous errors, including a mistake in our order. He also committed the egregious sin of "auctioning off" the entrees when they came to the table, which is unacceptable in a BBQ joint, let alone a fine dining establishment.
The complimentary bread and tapenade we enjoyed with our cocktails were delicious. Our Manhattans and Martinis were well crafted by a competent mixologist, which is a rarity these days here in the land of overzealous, cocktail shaker happy, "bartenders".
Although I did not enjoy my entree, everyone else at the table did. Few places ask for a temperature on pork, so, as someone who enjoys some color in his meat...even pork, I was pleased when given the opportunity to order mine medium. Unfortunately they came out very well done and bone dry, which made the disappointing preparation all the more noticeable.
The salads were acceptable, but unremarkable. The vegetables and starch a forgettable afterthought.
The parking lot is unacceptable and better suited to pickup trucks visiting a farm than a restaurant where one might arrive nicely dressed in an actual car.
I enjoyed the atmosphere and will eat at the restaurant again. I think there is potential that may shine through on a slower night."
