"Came in with a few pieces of silver and 2 gold bracelets. Wasn't expecting much. Walked away with $542 from an honest businessman. He explained which pieces where worth what and I was treated with kindness and professionalism! I will tell everyone I know that this is the ONLY place to go! Thank you very much!"

refreshing honesty

"Have been there twice myself and my boyfriend once. This shop is the fairest around and the owner shows and explains which pieces are worth what prices. If your looking for the fairest and highest paid deal Malek is your place! Brought in 2 old gold and gemstone bracelets and some smaller silver pieces - left with $542! He could've easily given me less and made a "higher profit" off of me but that's not how he does business. I will tell everyone I know to make a trip to Bloomingburg to be treated this well! Thank you!"

"Went in afew times with solid gold jewelry inherited from Great Aunt, and he was nice, fair & honest and paid out what it was worth. Recently, he did a 350 degree turn around. Went in with the same, and he behaved rudely & offered the LOWEST PAYOUT IN THE HUDSON VALLEY, all with a Negative attitude! Dissapointing. Walked out and will never go back again. "

We are sorry you have had a unhappy experience. We offered to purchase the items that were true solid gold, at the absolute highest current price. We could not offer on the other items you had, we tried explaining the fluctuations in the gold market prices, and that we cannot purchase gold plated items for solid gold prices. Customers never like to hear the items they have and cherish are counterfeit/fake, and cannot be purchased. Items that are marked 10/14/18k gold and are not, have no value. We clearly showed our testing process and explained our results on the items and how those items did not pass the test as indicated. We continue to offer the highest current prices in the area, we offer you the chance to come back and see for yourself in the future.

"I went there with with a 18kt gold neck-less and was offered 600 at a NYC pawn shop . I should have taken it as all they offered was 400 . I also had my I mother's rings after she passed away .

There is always a difference in pawn and purchase prices, we do not offer loans and pawning on items. Market prices change daily, unfortunately the price of gold from September 2011 to January 2012 changed down over $300 per ounce. On the typical $400 chain we make less than $40. There is no possible offer in the city or in the fair market of gold purchasers that could have offered such a difference. Gold is calculated based on current market prices and the karat purity of alloys the gold is. The only possible reasons for the difference in prices as indicated in this comment are that the offers were for pawn and not for purchase, they possibly were an appraisal and not an offer to purchase (appraisals are based on replacement cost at full retail value), or the items were offered for purchase to our supposed competitor at the highest point in the gold market, and offered to us much later after the market price had dropped. We offer you the chance to come back and test us at any time, we truly do offer the highest prices in the area bar none.

"My wife and I had some junk broken jewelry hanging around, we never thought it would be so much, and how much the difference in prices were elsewhere. On Monday my wife took some jewelry to the mall and she was offered $45, she was unsure about her feelings with the scammers in the mall, she decided not to sell, on our way home we stopped in Bloomingburg and it was really over $200!! What a ripoff in the mall, Malek Gold Buyers will always get our business. We will be back with our coins!"
